History

Psychiatry is one of the parts that must be passed to get a doctor’s degree. Historically, psychiatry is a science derived from neuropsychiatry which later separated itself into an independent branch of medicine. FK Undip Psychiatry has a long and unique history.

1971 to 1975

Prof. Tahitoe had an idea to stand alone but the idea was rejected by the Director of Dr. Hospital. Kariadi (dr. Soebagyo) with the reason that there is already a Semarang Mental Hospital. The idea was not implemented until Prof. Tahito died. Then Psychiatry led by dr. R.M Pranowo also serves as Director of the Semarang Mental Hospital with dr. J. Sindhu Husodo, dr. Adiyoso Abubakar, dr. Slamet santoso and dr. MS Hartono.

1975 to 1984

Furthermore, Psychiatry is led by dr. Adiyoso Abubakar, while dr. R.M. Pranowo still serves as the Director of the Mental Hospital but is no longer the Head of the Psychiatry Division. Besides being the head of the psychiatry department, dr. Adiyoso Abubakar also serves as Assistant Dean III of Undip Medical Faculty.

Since 1975 UPF Psychiatry has obtained a building to treat people with mental disorders with a capacity of 8 beds, 4 beds for men’s wards and 4 beds for women’s wards. The psychiatry ward was inaugurated on July 2, 1975 by the Head of the Directorate of Mental Health, which at that time was held by Prof. Dr. Kusumanto Setyonegoro and the Director of the Hospital. Dr Kariadi at that time was held by dr. Soerarjo Darsono. Since then the psychiatric laboratory has been split into two places, the first at Dr. Hospital. Kariadi and the second at the Semarang Mental Hospital. Two teaching staff stay at Dr. Hospital. Kariadi and concurrently teach at the Mental Hospital and two other teaching staff stay at the Mental Hospital as education coordinator for senior clerks.

In 1984, Dr. Adiyoso Abubakar suffered a stroke, then two staff members entered retirement, namely: dr. J. Sindhu Husodo and dr. Slamet Santoso.

1984 until now

The number of teaching staff in the psychiatry department experienced ups and downs. In 1984 there were 5 teaching staff consisting of: dr. Adiyoso Abubakar, dr. M.S Hartono, dr. Sumitro W, dr. Ismed Yusuf and dr. Nana Lestari plus two psychologists, namely: Drs. Karyono and Dra. Sri Hartati. At that time the health condition of dr. Adiyoso Abubakar began to decline.
Then in 1990 the psychiatry laboratory got a new teaching staff, namely dr. Anggraini Noviastuti who at that time was still in the education of a psychiatrist and graduated in 1995. In 1994 the psychiatry laboratory received 1 home staff with the status of Dep.Kes, namely dr. Ahmad Alaydrus. In 1998 appointed new teaching staff, namely dr. Alifiati Fitrikasari Dep.Dik.Nas status which at that time was still in expert training.

The number of teaching staff is decreasing because some of them are sick and died, namely: dr. Sumitro W in 1996, dr. Nana Lestari in 2004, dr. Anggraini Noviastuti in 2007 and dr. MS Hartono in 2008. The shortage of teaching staff was anticipated by appointing several outstanding teaching staff from RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Semarang. The Psychiatry Division has 14 teaching staff consisting of: 5 staff from the Undip Medical Faculty where 2 home staff are from the hospital. Dr. Kariadi 1 contract teaching staff of Undip Medical Faculty, and 6 people are extraordinary teaching staff from RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo who was appointed through a decree from the Undip Chancellor.
